PLANTING THE FUTURE
April 2024
As part of the "Taste for health" project, implemented with the help of the InspirAction Association in St. Dumitru Secondary School, the 7th grade students were enthusiastically involved in planting some flowers and shrubs that will add color to our school's garden. The students actively participated in this process, learning not only about plants and their care, but also about responsibility towards the environment and their community. As the plants develop leaves and flowers, students will care for them, learning about the specific needs of each species and making sure it gets the right amount of water, light, and nutrients.
This activity will not only help our students understand the process of growing plants, but will also encourage them to develop collaborative and responsible skills while taking an active role in caring for the environment.

TECHNOLOGY AND NATURE: MICRO:BIT IN SOIL STUDY
April 2024
In the activity planned for middle school students, explored the fascinating world of technology using the Micro:bit to measure soil moisture.
In the first part of the activity, students were introduced to the world of the Micro:bit, a small programmable device that provides an excellent platform for learning programming and electronics concepts. They explored how specialized sensors for measuring soil moisture connect to the Micro:bit, allowing them to understand how the technology can be used in agriculture and to monitor the environment.
In part II of the activity, students had the opportunity to experiment with their own soil moisture measurements using the Micro:bit. They learned to program the device to collect and display humidity data, and then interpret the results to understand how this variable affects the environment and the plant growth process.

EN: For the second activity, the 6th grade students of the "Sf. Dumitru" Secondary School in Craiova started from 3D modeling in Tinkercad of rockets and other specific elements (rover, robots, etc.) and continued with ESA's Astro Pi-Mission Zero challenge, which gives students the chance to run code in space on the ISS. Here we coded elements of terrestrial flora and fauna in Python on the Astro Pi computer using the color and brightness sensor.
